The Politics of The Absurd

The analogy is very simple: would you wear a baking sieve over your face to protect youself from an aerosolised virus?

Even the most ardent mask-wearers would think that is ridiculous. In the same way that trying to catch a butterfly with a hula-hoop or using barbed-wire fencing to keep out midges is ridiculous.

Why? Because, and it hardly needs explained, that even a toddler knows smaller things can go through bigger things. Toddlers do it every day with their toys, especially the toys that use objects to be placed into different shaped holes. They can fit the smaller object through the larger hole.

It’s so obvious. Yet in our New Middle Ages where society’s ‘progress’ is being exposed as a mirage, the simple idea that smaller objects can pass through gaps that are bigger than them seems to have been forgotten, unlearned, dismissed.

Many mask wearers seem to be are unaware of the fact that, although you cannot see something, it does not mean that there isn’t something there. We cannot see tiny droplets of water, human cells, toxins, viruses, germs, and bacteria with our naked eyes yet they are still there. We cannot see them because they are microscopic, far beyond natural human capacities to perceive without aid from technology.

To return to the analogy of a sieve, if you started wearing a sieve to protect you from an aerosolised virus, you would soon discover that even the largest bits of spittel you breathed out onto your sieve would be blown out as smaller droplets on subsequent breaths. Exactly the same thing happens at the microscopic level when miniscule droplets of water, potentially filled with virus, pass through the gaps in the fibres in your mask (they can also come out through the gaps round the side of your mask).

If you can breathe, you can contract and spread virus. (The exception being if you’re sealed-up in a hamzat suit with your own separate oxygen supply. And if mask wearers want to spend their lives in those, then they are welcome.)

Still people use their mask, regardless of reason, which has allowed the meaning of the act and object to change. Not being a practical device to prevent viral spread, the mask has now become a totem. An object of superstitious veneration that separates Us – ‘the responsible’, ‘the selfless’ and ‘the caring’ – from the non-mask wearing Them – ‘the selfish’, ‘the spreaders’ and now ‘the murderers’.

And like all totems, it demarcates a tribe. The worship of the mask are now one tribe and the sceptics another. At this point, we seem to have passed beyond logical inquiry and are now penetratinginto the subconscious, the ‘heart of darkness’ of vast swathes of individuals where the issues are about need, identity, security and fear.

If only mask-wearers could see what truly drives these latent fear-filled actions of obedience, superstition and rejection of science, then this could be over very quickly. Yet they are in denial for a host of reasons beyond the scope of this blog, but those causes are very deep-rooted, probably traumatising to re-live, and not easily resolved.

As remarked elsewhere, we are entering an era of Neo-Feudalism and if you are going to have a society premised on superior people then you need an ignorant class to justify the hierarchy, to both groups. What better example of foolish, simplicity could there be than to wear a piece of cloth over your mouth thinking that it can somehow repel a particle that it requires an electron microscope to see?

Watching all this, the Neo-Feudalists must feel secure in their Right to take control of the commanding heights of the economy and direct their self-enslaved serfs to whatever ends they choose.

If this is to be resisted and overcome, it’s clear that the psychological issues of people need to be addressed, now and in the future. For they are cutting people off from their Reason and when that happens, they threaten to take us all into the Politics of the Absurd.
